DecoDrops Consumer Toolkit

For the course “Integrated Production Design”, students were tasked with creating a fully functional “toolkit”. It needed to be a marketable activity or interactive set of items that also served as a “starter-kit” understandable to a first-time consumer. The deliverables included industry-standard dielines, a 16-page booklet, a cohesive brandmark, and custom packaging to house the intended objects within the toolkit.

With this assignment, students were asked to perform their ideation and creation as close to a real design agency as possible. Ideation was a key portion of this process, and it allowed me to explore parts of design I had previously not taken seriously, such as mood boards and fully fleshed-out design briefs.

For this project, I took the route of a personal hobby and expanded it into something that would potentially become something like a monthly subscription box. The intention is that this is the first box that one would receive, and subsequent boxes would contain fewer of the multi-use items, such as tools, and more artistic materials. The box itself was printed from an external source, but all other physical packaging was made by hand for the final product.

For convenience, the box dielines and internal booklet are downloadable here.
